You will get a careful oral examination by your dentist and/or hygienist, who will check for things like tooth decay, gum disease and other things that can affect not just your mouth, but your overall health. Then you’ll talk together about any treatments options available to you. You may get a teeth cleaning on this visit, or it may be scheduled for a follow-up visit. Students attending Spring Hill area schools have been invited to participate in an art competition called the “Happy Sun” Art Competition. Open to any student at Spring Hill High School, Independence High School, Summit Station High School, Spring Station Middle School, Longview Elementary School and Allendale Elementary School, this competition is being sponsored by Daily Dental for its Spring Hill, Tennessee dental practice scheduled to open early 2018. Students are encouraged to create an 18 inch by 24 inch painting, illustration, collage or graphic design based on the theme of “Happy Sun.” The media used can be paint, drawing materials, collage materials or print and should be age appropriate based on the student's experience and skills, as trained by area fine arts teachers at these outstanding schools.
This award will honor a total of up to 15 student-artists attending Spring Hill area schools, three from each high school and two from each middle and elementary school. Each of the student finalists, as judged by a review committee, will receive a cash purchase award for his or her works.
In addition to the purchase award and school recognition, these young artists will be promoted via publicity in Spring Hill, each exhibited artwork will include a plaque recognizing the student-artist by name and school, the awarded students will gain resume experience which may be beneficial when applying to college, and — importantly for the students and their family, friends and schools — for up to 12 months every visitor to Daily Dental Spring Hill will have the opportunity to view and appreciate the student-artist's work.
“It is our intention to sponsor this as an annual event,” said Frank Coyle, Director on the Board of Directors of Daily Dental. “My own son, Jack, is now a senior at Maryland Institute College of Art (“MICA”), the oldest fine arts college in the U.S., so I understand the value of recognizing and rewarding emerging artists. Hopefully, as happened for Jack when he was in high school, this will be a good way to encourage creativity, originality and artistic expression among Spring Hill student-artists. I look forward to seeing and showing the artwork these students create.”
The deadline for submissions is Thursday, January 11, 2018, after the Christmas break, and the winners will be communicated directly by school announcement on Monday, January 15, 2018. The fine arts teachers at each school have the exact submission criteria. Daily Dental then will professionally frame and install each winning piece prior to the grand opening of Daily Dental Spring Hill, anticipated to be in February 2018.
The finalists’ images will be posted here upon selection...
